Sound Familiar?

  • You've been actively trying for a baby for a while now, bloods & other tests have come back 'fine' and you're told it's 'Unexplained Infertility'

  • Your Menstrual Cycle isn't right, it's possibly erratic with painful & heavy bleeds, PMS symptoms are affecting your life

  • You're about to embark on IVF.  You'd like to either avoid IVF & fall pregnant naturally, or you would like help to get you in the best possible position for IVF success, with support through the process

  • You're suffering from Anxiety or Low Mood leaving you emotionally and/or physically drained & would like some help

  • You're suffering with with Migraines/Headaches/Arthritis/Gut Issues/Fibromyalgia/Fatigue/Insomnia, which is affecting your life

How It Works

Assessment

We start with a comprehensive assessment where a full medical history  & details of your current health situation is taken.

Personalization

Based on the assessment, along with a Tongue & Pulse diagnosis, a tailored to you treatment plan is made.  This is reviewed at every session & evolves with your progress.

Treatment

Acupuncture, along with various other methods will be used to treat your condition specifically.  You'll send 20-30 minutes on the treatment bed, relaxing (yes, relaxing!) with your needles in.

Treatment Frequency & Duration

For fertility work, including IVF support, I will need to see almost weekly for at least 3 cycles.  All other conditions are weekly treatments for approx. 6 treatments, depending on severity.

Feedback & Interaction

Your feedback is crucial. I listen and adapt at each treatment to make sure you're on the right track.  Fertility work especially requires lots of information & tracking from you .

Maintenance

Most people with acute conditions are complete after treatment. Chronic conditions may require less frequent maintenance sessions.  Once pregnant you can choose to leave treatment or you can continue ad-hoc sessions to support your pregnancy.

FAQ

How do I get started?

To begin, simply reach out to me through my contact form & let me know how I can help.  You can then book follow on sessions at your own convenience online.

A £20 deposit is required for all bookings.  You'll receive 2 forms to complete from the booking platform - please complete these at least 24 hours before your appointment.

Reach out if you have any questions

What should I wear?

Please wear loose fitting clothing, or bring something to change into privately in clinic - there is a coat stand for you to keep your belongings with you/hang your clothes.  I always get apologies for unshaven legs - please - do not worry about these things, I just want you to be comfortable!

Do the needles hurt?

The needles used are very fine - not what you are used to at the Dr's.  The right length and width are used for you personally & if you find a needle too much, I can reduce the size.  It's very normal to a heavy sensation where the needle is inserted, or for your limbs to feel 'asleep'.  Shooting & electric sensations are also normal.  Sometimes it can be a little sharp when inserted (especially if you're anxious), this goes away after about 20 seconds.  Your comfort is my prime concern so I always take it at your pace.

What is the hygiene & safety like?

Needles are pre-packaged, sterilised and single use, they're put into a sharps bin and destroyed correctly once used.  Fresh needles are always used and if I have to reposition a needle, I will use a fresh one.

All hygiene practices are fully adhered to.  I am a member of The British Acupuncture Federation and the Association of Acupuncture Clinicians - who are governing bodies in the U.K for Acupuncture and have a strict set of standards that I am contracted to adhere to.

I am fully registered, licenced and inspected by Sunderland Council both as an Acupuncturist and the clinic premises.

What happens during a session?

Each session we have a catch up.  Sometimes I contact you prior to your session to ask for information to prepare.  We discuss the treatment plan, I will look at your tongue and pulse (you will find this strange at first but will get used to it!) you will go round to a screened off section where the treatment bed is and get comfortable.  Needles are then inserted and I will talk you through it all.  Once i'm happy you're happy and comfortable, I put on some relaxing music if you like that, give you a buzzer and leave you to relax for 20-30 minutes.

Needles are removed and I let you know if I need anything from you between sessions/ready for next session.
