Acupuncture for Periods, Hormones & Menopuase in Sunderland
Support for your cycle, PCOS (now PMOS), endometriosis, perimenopause and menopause
Too many women are told painful, heavy or unpredictable periods are "just part of being a woman", or spend years waiting for answers. Perimenopause can arrive with symptoms you never expected and no one warned you about. You deserve to be listened to, and to have support that takes how you feel seriously
This may be for you if:

You're having hot flushes or night sweats

You're using HRT and want additional support, or HRT isn't right for you

You're struggling with brain fog, aches and pains, or simply don't feel like yourself

You're find you have an increased low mood, anxiety or irritability, and it's affecting your work or relationships

You have migraines or headaches

You're sleeping badly or waking unrefreshed
During treatment with Acupuncture, together we look at:

Your story – a full consultation about how you're feeling, your sleep, digestion, energy, menstrual cycle history and diagnosed conditions, using a Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis to build your treatment plan. Always working alongside your GP/Consultant and any medication or treatment they've prescribed, never instead of

Treatment built around you - no two women experience perimenopause or menopause the same way. Whether it's hot flushes, painful periods, anxiety or poor sleep, your treatment is planned around your symptoms and adjusted as things change

Hot flushes and night sweats - how often they come, what tends to set them off, and how they're changing over time

Sleep, energy and stress - your sleep patterns and energy through the day, and the changes that could help. How stress affects you and your symptoms, with treatment that many people find deeply calming

Mood and brain fog - how you're feeling day to day, with treatment for emotional support and irritability

Lifestyle– your nutrition, movement and rest, and realistic changes that fit your life. Evidence based supplements that may help

Working with your GP – alongside HRT or any other treatment you may be receiving
How often

I usually recommend weekly sessions to start, ideally for at least your first 4 treatments, this gives me a clear picture of your symptoms and how you respond, so I can tailor your treatment from the start. After that, we'll review together and move to fortnightly or monthly sessions if that suits you. Once things have settled, you can stop treatment, although some people like to keep a regular session as dedicated time to look after themselves

If weekly isn't possible, fortnightly is fine. It just means things build more gradually.

Your first appointment

We'll go through your cycle, symptoms, general health and any diagnosis or investigations you've had. I'll look over test results and suggest anything worth discussing with your GP or menopause specialist, and alongside any medication or HRT you may be taking.

We'll also talk about sleep, stress, nutrition and lifestyle, as these often play a part in how you're feeling.

Between sessions

I may ask you to keep a simple record of your cycle and symptoms, of your hot flushes, sleep and mood.
This helps me see patterns and shape each treatment around them. Every session starts with a catch-up, and I'll always explain what I'm doing and why.

New to acupuncture?

If you're nervous about needles, please don't let that put you off. They're very fine, we go at your pace, and making sure you're comfortable throughout is my priority. I always encourage you to ask any questions you might have and to let me know how you're feeling.
